Education is the key-sector to develop a nation. From the immemorial time education plays a vital role to enrich a country like Bangladesh. Higher education is inseparable part to the scientific and technological development, artistic and scholarly enrichment, and trade and commercial progress of a country. This paper tries to find out the academic gaps and fill up the gaps specially at the tertiary level of education. Different sectors of higher education in our country are gradually contributing to the development of human resources liberally and professionally. In spite of repeated awareness at the tertiary level of education in the country, there are some lacks or gaps due to the unknown situations in the lingua franca i.e. English which is, in general, the gateway to the scientific and technological skills-development, trade and business-related thought, and finally artistic and human resource development. English is needed to alleviate these lacks and gaps as it is the main entrance to science, technology, agriculture, medical science, trade, commerce, arts, human resource and so on. As a result, our higher education sector will be able to build a country like Bangladesh based on skilled manpower in all spheres of life.
